Who We Are
BuyTripInsurance.net is an independent comparison and content website. We are not an insurance agency, not a broker, and not an underwriter. We publish plain-English descriptions of how five well-known US travel insurance carriers position their products, so you can walk into a live quote with better questions and make a better decision.
How We Are Paid
This site is funded by affiliate arrangements with the five carriers we feature: Trawick International, Travelex Insurance, Generali Global Assistance, IMG Global, and Travel Insured International.
When you click a “Get a Quote” link on this site and subsequently purchase a policy from that carrier, the site may receive a commission from the carrier. That commission is baked into the carrier’s pricing structure — you do not pay more for buying through this site than you would by going directly to the carrier.
All outbound quote links on the site are marked with rel="noopener sponsored" in the underlying HTML, so search engines and browsers can identify them as affiliate links.
Does Affiliate Compensation Affect Our Editorial?
No. All five featured carriers are affiliate partners. Because they all pay commissions in similar ways, there is no financial incentive for us to favor one over another. The same cautious, product-neutral wording (“may be worth considering when…” rather than “X is the best”) applies to every carrier on every page.
Head-to-head comparison pages describe each carrier’s general product positioning; they do not push readers toward the affiliate with the highest commission. If we recommended a different plan or carrier depending on which paid us more, that would be a fee-for-recommendation model — not a comparison publication. We are the latter.
How to Verify Anything We Publish
- Read the actual policy documents. Every page on this site directs you to the carrier’s live quote and policy documents (Certificate of Insurance, Description of Coverage). Those documents govern your coverage — not our summaries.
- Check financial-strength ratings. Independent ratings for the carriers we cover are available at AM Best. Better Business Bureau ratings and consumer reviews are available at BBB and Trustpilot.
- Verify entry requirements at primary sources. Destination entry rules, visa requirements, and travel advisories come from the US State Department and the destination country’s consulate.
- Verify weather and hurricane data. Hurricane season timing and named-storm tracking come from NOAA National Hurricane Center.
- Get a licensed producer’s advice for your specific situation. For personalized insurance guidance, we recommend consulting a licensed insurance producer in your state of residence. Nothing on this site is personalized advice.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not bind, issue, or underwrite insurance. Policies are issued directly by the carrier when you buy on their site.
- We do not take payment or store credit card information. All purchases happen on the carrier’s site, not ours.
- We do not give personalized insurance advice. Everything published is educational and general.
- We do not act as a licensed insurance agent or broker unless explicitly disclosed on a specific page.
- We do not fabricate testimonials. No customer reviews on this site are invented for effect.
- We do not predict prices. A previous version of this site included a price estimator; we removed it because we cannot predict what a carrier will actually quote for a specific traveler. Only the live quote from the carrier reflects your real price.
How We Choose the Carriers We Cover
Five carriers, chosen because each represents a distinct product positioning in the US travel insurance market:
- Trawick International — international medical & adventure-travel positioning.
- Travelex Insurance — family-friendly comprehensive leisure; underwritten by Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance.
- Generali Global Assistance — comprehensive leisure and cruise distribution; part of the global Generali Group.
- IMG Global — international medical specialist and long-stay/expat products.
- Travel Insured International — higher-limit comprehensive with a broad optional-rider catalog.
We do not cover every US travel insurance carrier; there are dozens more, some good, some not. If you want a broader comparison, sites like Squaremouth and InsureMyTrip aggregate a wider set of carriers.
